#984 Annapolis Dorothy Knapp Hand Painted 1949 FDC Special

Designed, painted and signed by Dorothy Knapp.  VF.
This was done after 1980.  Dorothy did NOT collect or have a inventory of her work.  This is an urban myth.  When Dorothy found out how much her covers were selling for in the late 70s, she decided that she would start painting again and while she had some covers left from her production, she had sold or given away a good deal of them.  Her son Wally started going to stamp shows and picking up uncached covers from her earlier period for her to paint.  Dorothy still had her templates from the 1940s.  Very few of these 1980s add-ons to the 1940s issues exist.  This is quite scarce.
