    Vehicle Details
Check out this first generation Olds Toronado. This 68 Toronado is also the first front wheel drive Olds ever built. The engine is a 455 V8, it has air conditioning and original wheels with next to new radial tires with the correct narrow white wall.
One of the big distinguishing features of the Toronado is its restrained use of chrome and trim. The front grille was new for '68, encompassing a split front grille with honeycomb style inserts that were unique to that year. The tail lights remain embedded in the heavy chrome rear bumper, and the squared-off tail actually has a beneficial aerodynamic effect. All the stainless and chrome trim remains in exemplary condition, with no dings, rust, or flaking, and things like the cool Oldsmobile rocket emblems on the side marker lights are still sharp—go try to find a set of those! Bright stainless outlines the aggressively flared fenders, but again, it remains in almost new condition with no dings or bends that are commonly found on high-mileage cars.
The big news for 1968 was indeed big—455 cubic inches big! Generating a very impressive 375 horsepower and a towering 510 pounds of torque, the wonderful V8 easily moves the Toronado in a way that says muscle car more than luxury coupe. It is also beautifully and expertly detailed, with proper Oldsmobile Turquoise paint on the block, a correct air cleaner and decal, and a lot of bright hardware that looks fresh off the factory assembly line. Note that this car carries factory A/C, power steering, and power brakes, and everything works exactly as it should. Thanks to its outstanding originality, this car is a veritable road map for restorers and will be a contender at the highest levels, and not just in survivor classes, but in any class. Yes, it's that good.
